about the collective

The Circle Collective is a group of contemporary art enthusiasts who have come together to create a considered collection of art, focusing on emerging and mid-career Australian artists.  Collected over ten years, the works of art will be acquired across a broad range of media from leading commercial galleries and on occasion the artists themselves.

Governed by a member constitution, an executive committee manage the day to day operation of the Collection while an annual buying committee research, select and acquire artworks in their nominated year with the support of a shadow buying committee (who then become the buying committee in the following year).  The Collection is rotated from home to home of the members over the ten years, allowing each member the time to fully appreciate the experience of living with various works of art.

Members regularly come together to visit exhibitions, galleries and art fairs or events, greatly valuing the opportunity for education, learning, dialogue and discussion with much exchanging knowledge and opinions. The Circle Collective is about shared engagement, as both a Collection and an art community.
