Atong Atem

Atong Atem uses photography to explore and examine postcolonial practices among the African diaspora in Melbourne. Her Ego self-portraits are colourful and surreal, constructing a futuristic world through which to examine identity, individuality, and diaspora. She invites viewers to contemplate how their identity exists in the world and the ways in which we construct images and stories to understand ourselves and our surroundings.
