Teelah George creates meticulously hand-embroidered textiles, using subtle and richly hued threads. The works are framed by bronze supports, adorned with impressions of the artists’ touch, with a burnished finish that appears as visibly handcrafted as the embroidered fabric. Toppling historical ideas of gender, permanence and monumentality, her process-based sensibility is embedded in each material.
